How to Make a Slouchy Hat With a Knifty Knitter

Things You'll Need

  • Green circular loom and hook
  • Size 13 circular knitting needles
  • Thick yarn
  • Tapestry needle

1 Pin the start of the yarn under the thumbtack, leaving a 3-inch tail. Wrap the yarn around every peg. Wrap two strands of yarn counterclockwise around the peg, moving all the way around the loom in a clockwise direction. Continue until you have 9 to 10 inches of loomed yarn. Detach the stitches from the loom, one by one, and place on to a knitting needle.
2 Add another row by knitting two stitches together and then knitting five stitches. Repeat this to the end of the row and knit the last two stitches. Form a second row by knitting two stitches together, followed by three stitches. Continue this pattern to the end of the second row.
3 Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail, and thread the tail through every stitch. Pull the yarn tight and close off the end. Tie the end of the tail and weave it into the hat.
4 Single crochet around the edge of the hat for one round. Follow this with a double crochet for the second round. Tie the yarn and weave the ends into the hat.
